The Golen Hour

On one side the sun dips into the ocean,
exhausted, calling it a day.
On the other, the moon awakens,
excited, ready to play.
Nature’s twin boys,
don’t see much eye to eye,
When one rises, the other recedes,
Two ends of a gilded sky
Losses are counted and victories are marked,
At dusk when they briefly meet.
Some rejoice, some weep today,
On nature’s balance sheet.
The hands that toiled the day,
Long for some rest.
Tired souls drive back home,
To the comfort of their nest.
A family gathers at the dinner table,
Chatter fills the air.
And a young friend calls forlorn another,
Cause there is so much to share.
An old father counts the hours till bed,
As he deals a new round of solitaire
And a lone wolf grabs an unfinished book
As she sinks into her armchair.
A lover’s passion unfurls,
As his hands glide through her hair.
And the dusk light floods the room,
Spreading gold everywhere..
Spreading gold everywhere.
